Environmental sustainable initiative by The Guatemalan Institute of Tourism

Mountain Bike Guatemala is proud to be accepted as finalists for the IMPULSA-INGUAT grant. Applicants for IMPULSA were selected base on their initiatives in sustainable tourism. Criteria included: innovative services, new platforms for tourism development, and environmental and sociocultural conservation through tourism. We think out high quality mountain bike tours meet all of these requirements and more!

Mountain Bike Guatemala believes strongly that ecological tourism has the potential to make a positive impact on the future of the Guatemala. Ecotoursim and new sports like mountain biking help the country both economically and as a means to help protect natural resources including native forests & fauna.

Over the last year we have shown over 100 riders a unique perspective on Guatemala. Our routes that bring economy to remote villages with a low environmental impact. We believe Guatemala has the potential to become a world-class mountain bike destination! New mountain biking parks, events and community trail systems provide a profitable way to encourage environmental sustainability and forest protection.

What is the IMPULSA-INGUAT program?

The IMPULSA-INGUAT Program seeks to contribute to the strengthening and diversification of the tourism offer, through social enterprises with potential for sustainable impact. IMPULSA-INGUAT is an inter-institutional effort that joins the sustainable tourism agenda of the Guatemalan Tourism Institute (INGUAT), with the support of the Council of Protected Areas (CONAP), the Ministry of Economy and the Chamber of Tourism of Guatemala (CAMTUR ). It is facilitated by Alterna, a social innovation platform in charge of the call, cultivation and monitoring of entrepreneurs.
