Tour Reviews
I love this tour
This tour was a blast! I was a little worried going into it knowing that I am not an expert, but in the end I was immensely happy with my experience. There is plenty of expert terrain but with help and advice from MTB Guatemala and my fellow riders, I was able to overcome any apprehension I had and fully send it. The majority of the terrain is unlike anything I had ridden before.
It was a lot of riding in somewhat loose volcanic sand (in the dry season), so it made for some really fun descents. You will learn to skid turn, for sure. Coming from Montana I was not used to the loose sandy terrain but I had it down pretty well by the end of the day. I am not the fastest climber so I was relieved that the expert riders on the tour waited up for me on the climbs, and they never made me feel uncomfortable or embarrassed whatsoever.
The shuttle support was a game changer and allowed us to reach really high places without having to ride up thousands of feet. At the end of the day we had lunch at a small local spot where we experienced delicious Guatemalan cuisine unique to the village and the surrounding area.
Excelente tour!!!
The tour was incredible. The trip to our starting point was really great, passing through different guatemalan villages. The weather was great, the perfect weather to go mountain biking. Brendan our guide took us through excellent trails where we got to do a lot of sight seeing of guatemalan mountains and volcanoes. The whole trail was really cool, we had different kinds of terrain. The first part of the trail we saw corn fields, wild flowers, squash plantations, we even passed through a coffee plantation. We also had really cool downhills, we went really really fast YEAAAH! The second part of the tour, we went through a ridgeline, going downhill fast through the mountain, having a great sighting of huge volcanoes. It was a really fun trip going down the ridgline. Our driver Erick was a very cool guy, who gave us a shuttle ride two times in our trip, the car was comfortable, with great music. Everything was really cool, to end our trip, we had lunch at a great brewery, where the view to the volcanoes was really great. I highly recommend going on any tour with MTB GUATEMALA, their great, the bikes they rent are great too. Guatemala is an incredible country, and mountain bike is one of the greatest ways to know the country. I will definitely come back and have another tour, looking forward to it!! Thanks Brendan and everyone at MTB Guatemala, you guys are great.
